Event Description The Better Governor® new modular programme, designed for Chairs and aspiring Chairs of Governing Bodies and Trust Boards from; maintained schools, stand-alone academies, Free Schools and Multi-Academy Trusts builds on the experience and track record of five years developing and facilitating the National College of Teaching and Leadership Chairs’ Programme. Delivered over a period of approximately six months, combining face-to-face and online content, the Better Governor® programme is designed to be a catalyst for change focussing on developing governance leadership skills with particular emphasis on leading school improvement. PLEASE NOTE: that programme commences with the introductory webinar on Friday 11th January 2019 08:00-08:45 It is essential that all participants join this webinar as participation in this webinar activates your 12 month subscription to Better Governor and all the programme resources.

Event Prerequisites Booked governors will receive a pre-course guide, providing key information on how to get the best out of participation in the programme. A short webinar marks the commencement of your journey and this is followed by two face-to-face sessions, another webinar and a variety of online resources and activities.

Event Training Objectives The mixture of facilitated workshops, online activities, and personal reflection provides: • opportunities to learn and implement more about leadership • opportunities to reflect on leadership practice within governance • access to mentoring, from an experienced chair of a governing body, providing support, guidance and challenge • accessible and interactive resources
